Investigation
and treatment of infertility in thoroughbred and non-thoroughbred
mares, insemination using chilled and frozen semen (BEVA approved
centre), repair of parturition injuries etc. We have extensive experience
in the diagnosis and treatment of medical and surgical conditions
affecting foals.
Laparoscopy
is a minimally invasive technique that can be carried out in standing
or anaesthetised horses for investigation of medical and abdominal
disorders and for some surgical procedures such as cryptorchidectomy
and ovariectomy. We are fully equipped with long and short laparoscopes
and a variety of associated instruments.
In
depth lameness diagnosis is carried out using analgesia, radiography
and ultrasonography. Corrective farriery can be carried out on site.
We have two remedial farriers who visit the hospital twice a week,
or by appointment. There are facilities for trotting up, lunging
and ridden exercise.
Extracorporeal
shockwave therapy is a relatively new treatment for lame horses.
We have found great success in treating suspensory desmitis, tendinitis,
splints, non-union fractures, sore backs, non-specific foot pain.
This can be carried out on an out-patient basis.
Metron
computer analysis can be used for foot conformation and balance
as well as ultrasonographic tendon evaluation.
Endoscopy,
tracheal washes, radiography and surgery (standing or anaesthetised)
can be used for the investigation and treatment of a full range
of disorders including dysphagia, nasal discharges, dental disease,
laryngeal and other respiratory abnormalities. A 300cm equine gastroscope
with a video recording system is routinely used for examinations
of the proximal alimentary tract in foals and adult horses.
Colic
cases can be admitted for medical or surgical treatment at any hour.
Surgical cases receive intensive aftercare as appropriate.
All
aspects of elective or emergency orthopaedic surgery can be carried
out including arthroscopy and fracture repair. We have video arthroscopic
equipment with motorised burrs and shavers and an extensive range
of AO/ASIF equipment and implants.
We
undertake the diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions including
weight loss, poor performance, alimentary and respiratory disorders.
All
procedures for elective or emergency surgery are welcomed. Equipment
includes diathermy, cryosurgery, in-theatre radiology, suction and
fluid pumping capabilities.
Pre-purchase
examinations can be carried out either at the clinic or at the vendor's
premises.
There
are always a minimum of three veterinary surgeons on call with others
available for more specialised procedures.
